Spurgeon, probably the greatest Baptist preacher ever, could be described theologically as a cessationist, but he prophecied.
He gave words of knowledge (1 Cor 14:24-25, 1 Cor 12:8) for example on one occasion as he describes being prompted by the spirit whilst preaching points to a young man and says that the gloves he was wearing were stolen, the young man repented.
This cessationist Baptist Prince of Preachers on many occasions did prophecy thus. I understand the charismatic / Pentecostal explanation I would love to hear the cessationist view how such things are possible.
